Far from You - Tess Sharpe was born in a mountain cabin to a punk rocker mother. Growing up in rural California, she was a little wild and free. Fast forward five years and she’s in Los Angeles, making it big in the music industry. Tess has returned to the mountains to escape and find herself, but her past is there with her, waiting. Now that she’s back, she’s got to decide if she’s ready to tackle her past. Because even though she may be ready to face her demons, she’s far from ready to face the one person who will always be there. While Tess is always in motion, she always has the power to stop. Her past has long been hiding. Is it time for her to finally come out of hiding?
“Tess, what the hell are you doing?”“What?”“You just took off in the middle of the night and left your favorite picture of your dead mom. She’s still your mom. She’s no more gone than she was when she left. You can’t just let this stuff die. You gotta keep it alive.”“I just can’t. I can’t pretend. She’s my mom, but she’s dead.”“I don’t care what you call her, your mom is your mom. You can’t just throw her away.”“I can, and I have. I don’t even know her anymore, remember? She’s just gone. I’m not pretending anymore.”“You can’t ignore her. You need to talk to her. She’s still your mom. You need to put her back into your life. She’s still your mom.”“Fine, I’ll talk to her.”
I'm always excited to receive a review copy from the publisher and this was no exception. Far From You is the story of Tess by Tess Sharpe, a young woman who is trying to put her life back together after her mother dies. I picked up this book on a whim, and I'm so glad I did. This novel is written beautifully, and it deals with a subject matter that I'm really interested in right now. I know it's a bit off the beaten path, but that's why I like it. And what's better than an emotional read that will teach you a lot about yourself? 827ec27edc
