The first step is to set up the plugin in Photoshop. There are a number of options you can specify when you create a Lum-Mask preset, but the two main ones you'll want to select are: 1) you can choose between using RGB or HSL colors; and 2) you choose whether to use the luminosity of the image or the luminosity of the LAB color space. If you select Luminosity, then the plugin will attempt to match the luminosity of the source image with the luminosity of the mask.
